Dharashiv, Sep 4: A 30-year-old woman and two of her three minor children died after they fell from a bastion at the historic Naldurg Fort in Maharashtra’s Dharashiv district, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred on Thursday when Ashwini Manohar Pol, who lived with her parents in Vhantal village, visited the fort with her five-and-a-half-year-old son Ajinkya and two-and-a-half-year-old twin daughters, Veera and Kranti.

According to police, the four fell from the Upli bastion, the highest point of the fort. Ashwini and Ajinkya died at the spot, while Veera and Kranti were taken to Dharashiv Civil Hospital with injuries.

Kranti later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. Veera is undergoing treatment, police said.

Spread across 105 acres, Naldurg Fort has more than 100 bastions. The Upli bastion is around 80 feet high.

Police said Ashwini had previously worked with the Maharashtra Security Force, a government security agency, but resigned around four to five months ago.

An accidental death report has been registered at Naldurg police station. Police said the circumstances surrounding the incident will be investigated after the last rites of Ashwini and her two children.
