Greater Noida, Sep 4: Greater Noida is set to get a major connectivity boost with the Greater Noida Authority approving a proposal to construct Uttar Pradesh’s first double-decker elevated road.

The approximately 5.75-km corridor will connect Ekmurti Chowk to Shahberi and further link with the Meerut Expressway (NH-9), improving connectivity between Greater Noida, Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut.

According to Greater Noida Authority CEO Ravi Kumar NG, the project will require the consent of the Noida and Yamuna authorities before it proceeds. The stretch from Ekmurti Chowk to Shahberi will feature a three-lane double-decker elevated road, while a six-lane single elevated road is proposed from the Shahberi drain to NH-9.

The entire project is estimated to cost around Rs 1,280 crore, with the Yamuna Expressway Authority, Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and Ghaziabad Development Authority expected to share the cost equally. The double-decker section alone is estimated to cost around Rs 756.01 crore.

The project will directly connect Greater Noida’s 130-metre-wide road with the Meerut Expressway and is expected to ease traffic movement between key residential and developing areas.

The Greater Noida Authority has also approved a 105-metre-wide road connecting the city to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. The approximately 12-km road will be constructed from near Junpat village to the expressway, crossing a railway line, the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor link line and GT Road. Three overbridges will be constructed along the route.

The proposed road will be a 10-lane corridor with four service lanes. The two projects are expected to strengthen Greater Noida’s connectivity with major expressways and neighbouring cities while easing congestion and supporting further urban expansion and investment in the region.
