Calgary, Sep 13: The Mangalorean Catholic Cultural Association of Calgary (MCC) celebrated Monthi Fest 2026 on September 7 at St Thomas More Church, bringing together Mangalorean Catholic families and friends for a day of faith, tradition, thanksgiving and fellowship.
Monthi Fest, celebrating the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is one of the most cherished traditions of the Mangalorean Catholic community. The Calgary celebration honoured this rich heritage through the traditional blessing of the new harvest, Novem, and the offering of flowers to Infant Mary.
Children and families actively participated in the celebration, highlighting the importance of preserving and passing these traditions on to future generations. The customary Novem Jevon, a meal prepared from the new harvest, further brought families together in a spirit of thanksgiving, sharing and community.
The celebration reflected MCC's guiding values of Caritas, Unitas and Veritas — Charity, Unity and Truth, which continue to inspire the association's efforts to strengthen fellowship and serve the wider community.
MCC launches new official website
A significant milestone during this year's Monthi Fest celebration was the launch of MCC's new official website, www.mcccalgary.com.
The website provides a central online platform where members, families and well-wishers can learn more about MCC, stay updated on upcoming events, and discover its cultural, faith-based and community programs and activities. The platform will also help document and share MCC's journey as the association continues to grow in Calgary.
MCC has warmly invited Mangalorean Catholic newcomers and anyone moving to Calgary to visit the website and connect with the community.
The successful celebration was made possible through the collective efforts of MCC volunteers, supporters, sponsors, clergy and participating families. Their time, generosity and dedication helped make the occasion a meaningful and memorable celebration.
