Body of boy who drowned at Panambur beach found at Hejamady Kodi

Udupi, Oct 7: The body of 14-year-old Shreyas S Kumar, who was swept into the sea by strong waves at Panambur beach on October 4, was found on Tuesday evening along the Shambhavi riverbank at Hejamady Kodi.

Shreyas, a resident of Renkedaguttu in Kasaba village of Beltangady, had come to Mangaluru with his friends on October 4 for training in Hulivesha dance. After the training, they travelled by bus to Panambur and were playing on the beach when Shreyas drowned in the strong waves during the evening and went missing.

However, his friends, who were frightened by the incident, did not inform his family immediately and only informed them the following morning. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged at Panambur police station and a search operation was launched.

Shreyas's father Sesappa identified the body. A case has been registered at Padubidri police station.
