Mamitha Baiju likely to share screen space with Rishab Shetty in ‘Jai Hanuman’

Mumbai, Oct 14: Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju has reportedly joined the cast of the much-awaited pan-India film ‘Jai Hanuman’, directed by Prasanth Varma and featuring Kannada actor Rishab Shetty in the lead role. According to reports, Mamitha will share screen space with Rishab and has already begun shooting for her portions. However, the actress and the film’s makers are yet to officially confirm the news.

Mamitha has been steadily expanding her presence across the South Indian film industry. She is associated with Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ and Suriya-starrer ‘Viswanathan & Sons’. Her recent projects have further strengthened her popularity among audiences.

‘Jai Hanuman’ is the sequel to the 2024 Telugu blockbuster ‘Hanu-Man’. Rishab Shetty Films is also involved in the production of the upcoming movie.

In an earlier interview with Prajavani, Rishab spoke about the film’s linguistic identity, noting that although the director and producers are from the Telugu film industry, he represents Karnataka as the lead actor. Drawing a comparison with Lord Hanuman, he had said that both he and the deity were Kannadigas and described the project as a Kannada film.

The actor also explained that the film would bring together artistes from different language industries, with each speaking in their respective languages. Kannada artistes would speak Kannada, Hindi artistes Hindi and Telugu artistes Telugu, with the film subsequently dubbed into other languages.

Emphasising that cinema goes beyond linguistic boundaries, Rishab said audiences ultimately choose films based on their appeal rather than the language in which they are made.
