Mumbai, Oct 19: Police have arrested one of four accused allegedly involved in assaulting and stripping a minor boy in Maharashtra’s Latur city four months ago, officials said on Monday.

The incident took place at an open premises within the limits of the MIDC police station in June. A video of the assault surfaced on social media on Sunday, prompting police to take action.

After coming across the video, police traced the victim and identified all four accused, an official said. The police have not disclosed the boy’s age or the motive behind the assault.

While one accused has been arrested, three police teams have been deployed to trace the remaining suspects, the official said.

A case has been registered at the MIDC police station under charges of attempt to murder, kidnapping and extortion, along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police have appealed to the public not to share or circulate the video, warning that doing so could reveal the identity of the minor victim. Disclosure of a child victim’s identity is a punishable offence.
