Moodbidri, Oct 27: A fire broke out in a mat used for highway construction work by DBL Construction Company at Todar in Moodbidri on Tuesday, October 27.
No casualties were reported.
The mat, placed at the worksite as part of the Mangaluru–Bikarnakatte–Savanur National Highway construction project, suddenly caught fire and was soon engulfed in flames.
Thick smoke billowed from the burning mat, creating a dense haze in the surrounding area.
Further details regarding the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately available.
