Colombo, Apr 5 (IANS): The Sri Lankan government has told parliament that it has no objection in implementing recommendations of a war commission appointed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The government stand has been to implement the recommendations of the Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC), Xinhua quoted Petroleum Minister Susil Premjayantha as saying Wednesday.

He, however, said there were doubts if the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) was really keen to see the report implemented or had other ideas.

The UNHRC adopted a resolution on Sri Lanka last month calling for full implementation of the LLRC recommendations.

Sri Lanka said it would not fully implement the recommendations as the commission had gone beyond its mandate in some areas.

The government felt the UNHRC was attempting to lay the groundwork to take action against Sri Lankan political leaders and military officials over allegations of war crimes during the final stages of the war against Tamil Tiger rebels, said Premjayantha.

Premjayantha told parliament that the government will not allow any foreign government or institution to conduct investigations in Sri Lanka.
