Shah Rukh Khan in Legal Trouble for Smoking

Mumbai, Apr 11 (IANS): A complaint was filed in a court in Jaipur on Monday against Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan for publicly smoking at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium during a cricket tournament on Sunday, informed a lawyer.

The complaint was submitted in the court of the additional chief judicial magistrate. The court has fixed April 12 for hearing in the matter.

“Smoking publicly is banned in Rajasthan since 2000. However, Shah Rukh Khan was smoking publicly in front of thousands of spectators. The actor was broadcast live while smoking on the TV channel, which was showing the match,” said lawyer Nem Singh Rathore, who filed the complaint on behalf of Jaipur Cricket Academy director Anand Singh Rathore.

The lawyer said that spectators were being allowed into the stadium only after frisking. “The police was confiscating any objectionable items, including cigarettes while frisking. However, it seems Shah Rukh was allowed to carry the cigarette packet into the stadium, which is negligence on part of the police also,” the complainant said.

In the past, a Goa-based anti tobacco organisation served a legal notice to the actor for smoking in public at a summit and at a cricket tournament in Mumbai.

Dear youngsters please stop idolizing this brainless idiot called Shahrukh Khan. If he had slightest regard for his fan following he should behave in a way befitting his position ushered on him by the Indian people. His behaviour suggests that he is just abusing his position. So... my dear youngsters stop giving this idiot any importance. You have thousands of great people in and around you for inspiration... Shahrukh Khan is definetely not an inspiration for anyone by any stretch of imagination.

Dear Kamath Sir, I do not care if he dies or it is not an issue here but I am worried about the young people of my country who have sadly taken him as a role model and blindly follow him, I care for our country's law which does not allow someone to smoke in public, no matter whether he is a “So-called” super star or a common citizen.

    Nem Singh Rathoreji..
    1) This is India.
    2) They say here..All are equal in the 'eyes of the law'.
    3) However.. an annexure of point no2...Some are 'more equal' in the eyes of the law.
    4) Therefore as a result of point no3.. there are more than 3 crore cases (conservative figure)
awaiting judgement in India... Your's may be the 3 crore 1st...
    5) They have started this fast track... synthetic track something to dispose cases fast of late... Where will you file your's in case it's delayed?
    6) By the way hoping to meet SRK by any chance? No chance... For I have already told you some are more equal.... Forget it Rathoreji... Hota Hai...Hotha Hai !! Trying to help you out with points that matter...not a cigarette lighter !!
