Chennai, Nov 3: The makers of YouTuber VJ Siddhu's debut film 'Dayangaram' on Tuesday released its teaser and announced that the film will hit theatres during Pongal next year.

Production house Vels Film International announced the development on its social media handles, writing, "Pongal virunthuku ready aagunga prandsss... #DayangaramPongal."

The film's shooting was wrapped up in July this year. Sources close to the unit had said that the entire film was shot in just 49 days and that post-production work had commenced and was progressing at full pace.

VJ Siddhu, who has directed the film and also plays the lead role, shared an Instagram story posted by the film's costume designer Keerthi Vasan, announcing the completion of the shoot.

The film has music by Siddhu Kumar and cinematography by Dinesh Krishnan. Editing is being handled by Pradeep E Ragav, while Vinoth Raj Kumar is in charge of art direction.

In late November last year, Vels Film International had announced the completion of the film's first schedule through a social media post that read, "A step closer to the big screens! #Dayangaram first schedule wrapped."

Actor Dhanush had released the announcement video of 'Dayangaram' in May last year.

The video, which attracted attention for its humorous content, featured VJ Siddhu accompanying his father to meet the film's producer, Ishari K Ganesh, founder and chancellor of Vels University, seeking an opportunity to direct a movie.

In the video, Siddhu and his father are seen waiting alongside parents who have come to seek university admissions for their children. Siddhu's father, keen to see his son succeed as a director, boosts his confidence by saying that he has a bound script and a video clip to present to the producer.

When they are eventually called in, they find the producer busy signing documents. Without looking up, he begins asking Siddhu about his school marks. With his academic scores not particularly impressive, Siddhu wonders why the producer is asking about his marks when they have come to seek an opportunity to make a film.

His father eventually interrupts and tells the Chancellor, "Sir, forget the marks. My son will definitely make a great movie. Please give him a chance."

Realising that the duo has come seeking a filmmaking opportunity rather than college admission, the Chancellor asks Siddhu's father to wait outside. He then jokingly asks Siddhu, "Usually, kids bring their dad along with them when they come for college admissions. Do people bring their dads along to ask for a chance to make a movie?"

Siddhu manages to convince the producer by showing him a video. Impressed with the presentation, the producer calls him to convey his decision to give him an opportunity to direct a film.

However, Siddhu's phone is with his friends, who answer the call and respond with a series of hilarious remarks, leaving the producer reconsidering his decision to give the debutant a chance.

The producer, who appreciates the story, then asks Siddhu to suggest a title that should be "bayangaram" (fear-inducing). The announcement video ends with Siddhu revealing the title as 'Dayangaram'.
