Abu Dhabi, May 12: It was ‘Entertainment Entertainment & Entertainment” all the way at the Abu Dhabi Country Club on Friday 11 May 2012 when KCO‘s "Fiesta 2012", a splendid show unfurled with variety entertainment to the delight of the Mangalorean and Goan audience.
KCO’s fund raising event lived up to its promise with continuous entertainment throughout the day from start till finish. The selection of songs, Music, Bollywood dance sessions, Novelties, spot prizes etc provided perfect mixture of a cultural feast.
The programme commenced at 11.15 am with a prayer lead by Valerian D’Almeida and prayer song lead by Rupert Vaz followed by KCO‘s theme welcome song rendered by KCO members laid the strong foundation for the days exciting program.
The days line of events were evenly divided into three sessions giving ample scope for the singers, musicians and dancers.
Leslie Rego, the energetic compere laid the foundation for an eventful day in his own unique style raising the tempo as the day progressed .
Rony D’Cunha – the melody King with the golden voice commenced the event with the song – “Hazar Fulam Modhem” followed by queen of Melody – Nephie Rod crooning her first song “Ankwar Chedun” and heartthrob of many – Adolf Jayatilak rendering “Laveena” to the delight of the audience gave a well desired jump start to the event. Adrian Gomes with his young son Alston Joel Gomes who had specially flown in from Kuwait provided background music with their brand professionalism. It was then flow of melodious songs rendered by these singers.
It was Goa’s “Sky High” band gave an impetus to the audience to invade the dance floor for the beat of their superb foot tapping music and rendition of western, Hindi and Konkani songs.
After the first session Michael D’Silva in his welcome speech, highlighted KCO’s achievements and explained why this kind of entertainment event is important for them to meet their requirements to finance their charitable causes. He thanked the sponsors, well wishers, supporters and the audience for the unstinted support throughout these years. The Sponsors, Well Wishers, the performers and the Media were honoured during sessions.
Continuous flow of spot prizes and interaction by the inimitable Leslie Rego made the event more exciting. Leslie proved himself the king among the Master of Ceremonies in the present times and his popularity showed.
The careful selection of Konkani,English and Hindi songs keeping in mind the taste of both Mangaloreans and Goans were a instant hit including hits of yesteryears sung by Nephie, Rony and Adolf to the appreciation of the audience. The singers also rendered ever popular Hindi songs including the recent hits.
It was heartening to see the mingling of both Mangalorean and Goan entertainment lovers at the venue. KCO’s effort in bringing together both the communities was really praiseworthy.
The icing on the program were the professional Bollywood Dancers who performed to precision and were applauded for their breathtaking performance and won the hearts of the audience. Their scintillating dances were applauded by the cheering audience.
The evening session had dance session, Raffle Draws, Auctions and non stop Masala provided by the ever popular “ Sky High” band providing mixture of Goan, Mangaloeran, Konkani, Hindi and Marathi songs, which was the climax of the day. Their music was so mesmerizing had the audience asking for more and for sure their contribution towards the success of the day long programme was huge. The crowd – both young and old - danced to their hearts content. It was a visual treat to watch the festive atmosphere.
With these star-studded performers “Fiesta 2012” was proved to be one of the finest shows ever held in Abu Dhabi and it added another feather in the already glittering cap of Konkani Cultural Organization (KCO).
During the programme the CD of Kevin Misquith’s compilation of songs was released by Leo Rodrigues and Michael D’Silva.
A word of appreciation to the crisp sound arrangement which was integral part of the event provided by Broadway sound engineers.
The success of the show was the result of meticulous planning, dedicated preparation, excellent arrangement and professional performance by all entertainers. This event showcased the unity and organizational capabilities of KCO members who worked hand in hand for the success of this show.
The program concluded at 06:00 p.m. with the KCO members singing the traditional “Laudate”.
In organizing the event of this magnitude KCO has confirmed their superiority and their capability in providing quality entertainment programmes to help their mission in helping the needy students for their higher studies and for other social causes. .
