Bantwal, May 24: Over 2,500 offerings were booked at the historical Kallurti temple, Panolibail, on Tuesday May 23, thereby creating history.

It’s customary to book offerings to the temple deity annually, and the bookings on Tuesday have created a record of sorts.

The bookings for offerings were booked at the temple on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays except on no-moon days, and people from the undivided Dakshina Kannada district arrive at the temple to book their offerings and accept ‘prasadam’.

The offerings on Tuesday exceeded the record of 2,250 held in the past.  The devotees opined that the rise in offerings was due to the announcement of SSLC results. Long queues of devotees were seen from morning till evening on Tuesday to book their offerings at the temple.

It’s significant that these offerings are booked up to 10 years in advance.
