Udupi: Painting Exhibition on Lord Krishna Commences in District

Udupi, May 24:  A five-day national-level painting exhibition on the theme “Shri Krishnaya Namaha” commenced at Udupi art gallery here on Wednesday, May 23 at 5: 00 pm.

The show will be open from May 23 to May 27, 2012 from 10: 30 am to 7 pm.

Vishwavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Sode mutt inaugurated the exhibition. Junior Swamiji of Pejawar mutt, Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji and renowned artist of Mumbai Vasudeo Kamath were the chief guests. Vasant Rao, artist and founder president of Udupi foundation presided over the function. Kevin Morrison D’Mello welcomed the gathering.

Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji praised about the aesthetic beauty of the paintings. Vasudheva Kamath was falicitated by Swamiji at the function for his arts. He is a master painter of originality and vision. The vibrancy of his masterpiece painting uplifts, delights, engages and ultimately reaches out to the people.

"I belong to my art and my art belongs to my heart", said Kamath. In 2006, he became the first Indian to win the prize from the portrait society of America for his painting entitled 'My wife'.

In all, 50 artists exhibited their paintings from various parts of India at the exhibition. Four photographers would also be exhibiting their work on the theme of Lord Krishna.

Vishwas M (Kerala), Gangatharan, Raviraj (Coimbatore)Vind Chowdary Raparla( Hyderabad) Pradeep Ghosh (Calcutta) Shyamili Chaliha (Assam), Balbir Krishnan (Baghpath, UP), Sangeeta Pathak , Pramod Gaikwas (Bhopal)Mujheeb Hassain (Shimla) Mridulkanti Bhattacharjee Sonipath (Haryana) Swetha Rai, Danika Rodrigues(Mumbai) and Nand Thakur (Delhi) are some of the artists who took part in the exhibition.
