Mangalore: Woman with Child Thrown Out of Bus, Injured

Mangalore, May 25: A woman who was travelling with her five-year-old daughter in a bus was injured after she and her child were suddenly thrown out of the bus near RTO circle here on Friday May 25.

Savitha Acharya along with her daughter Samiksha (5) was on her way to the city from Derlakatte in a private bus 'Vishmitha' (KA 19 D 3167) plying between State Bank and Toudugoli.

She was seated on the 4th seat behind the driver, which is a reserved seat for ladies, and her daughter was on her lap.

As the bus reached RTO at 10.30 am and was turning the RTO circle, all of a sudden, the woman and the child were thrown out of the bus. She fell to the ground and sustained injuries on her head, hand and shoulder. Luckily, her daughter escaped unhurt.

It was a shocking incident especially as her seat was quite far from the door. The bus staff said that she fell like a dive, with the head hitting the ground first. She was admitted to Wenlock hospital immediately and later shifted to Tejaswini Hospital.

She then managed to call her husband and later a complaint was filed with the Kadri traffic police, who in turn took the bus into custody.

    RTO HAHAHAHAHA TELL ME ABOUT THEM.. THEY ARE ONLY GOOD FOR COLLECTING MONEY FROM THE DRIVERS. NEVER DO THEIR JOB PROPERLY. POLICE DEPARTMENT IN MANGALORE TRAFFIC AND OTHER BOTH ARE SO CURRUPTED AND WORKING FOR RICH PEOPLE AND POLITICIANS AND GOONDAS.

    when there are so many similar tragic incidents taking place why can't the RTO impose some rules and specifications on buses for a safety door especially at the front as the seat behind the driver are reserved for ladies and during peak hours many ladies travel with their children and belongings and it becomes difficult for standees/passengers to control on their balance/posture when the bus takes U turn or overtakes other vehicles.

    To have such safety standards you must first build good road, proper bus stops etc. With this infrastructure this is what you get. doors cant be put as people need to get in and out quickly. Your could request for seat belts though. So sleeping passengers will not fall out.

    When this incident happened i was in airtel shop n at around 11.15 another incident took place near city corporation a lady fell from d bus(pereira 19) from back door she was getting down driver saw the green signal n moved d bus forward and the  lady fell down. There was traffic police he just wrote down d number i think police has not taken any action

    Let us see if the Government or RTO have the guts to enact a law which makes it compulsory for all public transport Buses to have doors installed both in the front and rear, this will prevent this type of accidents and will ensure no overcrowding & hanging on the door. Alas in India there is no value for life. That being said, why o earth dont we have a Government run Public transport service like in other City's ?? Oh ! the private bus lobby is very generous to the RTO / Government.

    In India there is no safety system in place and there is no value for human life. The buses should have doors kept closed while moving to avoid such incidents. I see more than 50% of the local buses do not have either doors or they are kept open. This is height of stupidity !

    V V Shocking incident. This can happen only if the bus was overspeeding and suddenly applied brakes or taking a U turn fast., that too bang opposite the RTO office. Thank the ladys destiny that her life was saved !!
