Ajman: Dr Amin Al Amiri Delivers “Heroes of Healthcare” Lecture Series at GMU

Gulf Medical University (GMU) Ajman, hosted Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri, assistant undersecretary for medical practice and license sector in UAE ministry of health, and the chairman of the UAE Supreme National Blood Transfusion Committee, who delivered a special lecture at the campus, as part of its “Heroes of Healthcare International Lecture Series”.

Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri addressed over 250 students and faculty of the university.

In his captivating address, Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri mentioned that as a student, one must aim to serve humanity without discrimination, serve the country they belong to and respect one’s religion and strive to inculcate good professional ethics and standards.

He exhorted the students to pursue their goals with dedication and said that as a future healthcare professional, students must plan their future and achieve excellence in their chosen field. “Education with specialization is the key to success”, he said.

Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri narrated many instances from his own life experiences and encouraged the students to follow their dreams and gain good experience by facing obstacles, testing times and hindrances that they face in the process with grit and determination.

Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri lauded the efforts of Thumbay Moideen, founder president board of governors of GMU for his efforts in offering high quality education to students from over 63 nationalities. He appreciated the initiatives of the university in launching Masters Programs and assured all possible help from the ministry of health in offering the programs in the near future.

Later Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri had an audience with Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, member of the Supreme Council UAE and ruler of Ajman at his palace. A special certificate of appreciation was presented to Dr Amin Al Amiri in recognition of his achievements.

About Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri
Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri is the assistant undersecretary for medical practice and license sector in UAE Ministry of Health, and the chairman of the UAE Supreme National Blood Transfusion Committee. Dr Al Amiri obtained his PhD and MSc in medical science in 2003 from faculty of medicine, Aberdeen University in Scotland, UK.
 
He is responsible for the following departments at MOH:

Continuous medical education department; drug control and registration department; medical advertising department;   medical licensing department; total quality and hospital accreditation department;  Sharjah Blood Transfusion and Research Centre.

Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri is a member of the high commission of the consumer protection; ministry of economics and member to advisory board with Emirates authority for standardization and metrology since March 2009. He has also been nominated as chairman for the advisory panel membership; Majid Al Futtaim Charity Foundation in January 2011
 
His voluntary activities included other responsibilities such as co-chairing Emirates Voluntary Association till 2003. In addition to this, he is taking the responsibility as a secretary general of Sharjah Voluntary Award since 2001 till date.
 
He has many publications in the field of blood transfusion in local and international journals.
 
Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri was awarded from Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf executive office and the Arab league and Sheikh Rashid Award for the culture and science.

About Heroes of Healthcare Lecture Series:
In line with vision 2020, to stimulate and ignite the young minds, pursuing their careers in healthcare and medicine, university has launched a series of lectures titled “Heroes of Healthcare” – inspirational lecture series by globally recognized achievers in healthcare and medicine, said Thumbay Moideen, founder president, board of governors, GMU Ajman.

“As a policy laid down by the university, we wish to honor UAE national doctors and healthcare professionals for their achievements in the fields of medicine and healthcare. We wish to encourage bright UAE national students to pursue programs in healthcare professions offered by the university. Our endeavor is to actively involve national students and ignite the latent talent of those students who wish to pursue higher education, especially in healthcare professions.  We invite nominations from doctors who wish to be included on the elite list of Heroes of Healthcare. They can be nominated by their institutions or self-nominations are also welcome”, added Moideen.
