Mangalore, Jun 2:
Due to the recent hike in petrol and LPG prices, the DK district Auto Rickshaw Drivers Union submitted a memorandum to the DC requesting for minimum auto rickshaw fare to be raised immediately.  The delegates of the union met Dr Channappa Gowda, DC of DK district here in his office on Thursday, May 31.

Months ago, LPG price was hiked by Rs 6 and few days back price of petrol was suddenly raised by Rs 8. The minimum price should be raised to atleast Rs 24 for 1.5km and Rs 16 for every extra kilometer, further stated the appeal issued to Dr Channappa Gowda, DC of Mangalore.

President M Alihasan of DK district Auto Rickshaw Drivers Union, secretary Vishnu Murthy, Ashok Kumar, Shetty Bolar, Abubakkar Surathkal, Jay Prakash among many others were present.

If mangaloreans can walk a little, and have sometime and speak understandingly, then bus is the best option at present in the city.In a span of say 15-20 kms inside the city there are hundreds of interconnecting buses.People who find it difficult to deal with autorickshaws and their own vehicles can easily use buses. Why not?
