Udupi: Manipal University to Celebrate World Environment Day

Udupi, Jun 2:
Manipal University will plant 500 medicinal plants and 500 of other variety on the occasion of World Enviroment Day on June 5. This year the function will be organized jointly in association with the Udupi Karnataka State Pollution Control Board.
 
Deputy commissioner of the district, Dr M T Reju will flag off a rally in which about 700 students of different schools are expected to take part. The rally will start at 9 am from the University building and culminate at Madhav Vihar where about 60 saplings will be planted.
 
The theme for this year’s Environment Day is: “Green Economy – Does it include you?”.

Honorary director of Manipal Institute of Communication, M V Kamath will address on the occassion.

Rajshekar Puranik, environment officer, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Udupi, Vijetha Shettty, student of Kamala Bai High School, Udupi, will present their views on the day.
