Bantwal: Grocery Shop Gutted in Fire

Bantwal, Jun 5: A grocery shop was gutted in a fire at Kuddupadavu junction on Vittal – Kasargod Road, here at about 3 am on Tuesday June 5.

It is said that short circuit could be the reason for the incident.

                 
 
The shop owned by a certain A M Abubakker was gutted in a fire causing loss of nearly Rs 13 lac.  The groceries, refrigerators, cashew, cash worth Rs 5,000, other dry foodstuff etc was gutted in fire.
 
Bantwal town fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and managed to put off the fire by 5 am on Tuesday, as the nearest fire brigade personnel asked the caller to call police control room.  The local villagers of Kuddupadavu expressed their anguish over the incident, which should have been attended by a fire brigade nearest to the location without much delay.
