Mangalore: District All Set for MLC Elections, Counting on June 13

Mangalore, Jun 9: Dr N S Channappa Gowda, deputy commissioner and Harish Kumar, commissioner of MCC paid a visit to the polling centres on Saturday June 9 to oversee the preparations for the MLC elections for southwest graduates' and teachers' constituencies on Sunday June 10 between 8 am and 4 pm.

The counting will take place in Mysore on June 13.
 
Speaking to Daijiworld,  Channappa Gowda said that all arrangements have been made to ensure smooth polling across the district.

As many as 200 police personnel will be deployed along with the 30 micro-observers to ensure safety on poll day, he said.

"The election officers should report to the DC's office at 8 am, from where they will be sent to their respective booths with the polling material," said Harish Kumar.

Seven contestants are in the fray from southwest graduates' constituency and four from teachers' constituency.
 
There are 11,859 eligible voters (7,115 men and 4,744 women) and 20 polling stations in Dakshina Kannada under the southwest graduates' constituency. Mangalore taluk has 6,640 voters, Bantwal 1,389, Beltangady 1,178, Puttur 1,545 , and Sullia taluk 1,107 voters.
 
In addition, there are 4,902 eligible voters (2,756 men and 4,902 women) and 14 polling stations in Dakshina Kannada under southwest teachers' constituency. They are 2,863 votes in Mangalore taluk, 480 in Bantwal, 530 in Beltangady, 586 in Puttur and 443 in Sullia.
