Karwar: Police Bust Rave Party, Arrest 12 Including 8 from Mangalore

Daijiworld Media Network - Karwar (RD)

Karwar, Jun 10: Police raided a resort in Honnebail, near Ankola, on Saturday June 9 at around midnight and arrested eight young men and four women who were allegedly partying half-naked.

Of them, eight are said to be from Mangalore, hailing from city limits and from Gurpur-Kaikamba.

The police arrested the men and women who were allegedly engaged in obscene dancing and seized cash amounting over Rs 1 lac, 10 mobiles, and 3 cars in the raid. However, no narcotic substances were found.

The police arrested Raja Kumar Shetty (42), Sandeep Balakrishna Shetty (35), Sachin Balakrishna Shetty (31), Areef Inayatullah (38), Yashwant Poojary (38), Harish Shetty (42) Madhu Venkappa Shetty (37) and Vinod Bhagwandas Mada (45), all from Mangalore.

The four women are Sudha Raju Kolavi (23) of Bagalkot, Deepa Arun Hiremath (34) of Hubli, and Nepal nationals Sushma Tejanarayan Subba (21) and Roji Lal Bahaddur Hamala (24), both hailing from Katmandu.

The locals who were present during the raid managed to escape.

They were booked under IPC Section 294, which pertains to causing annoyance to others and obscene act in public places.

The resort, Honey Beach Resort is located 10 km from Ankola where late night parties are being held illegally, informed police sources.

The police sources informed that when they raided the premises, four women were dancing while the youngsters were high on alcohol and dropping currency notes around them.

The raid was carried out under the direction of SP Balakrishna, led by DySP Ullas Varnekar and carried out by sub-inspector Joy Anthony and over 50 policemen.

The police acted on a tip-off, sources said.

Let's not compare with any country for their restrictions, cultures or religion. Party is a gathering where youngsters enjoy themselves without disturbing others. Police labelled such parties as Rave Party. There are more than 100 ministers in Karnataka Govt. with their Chelas organize such parties every night for the pure fun of Alcohol and SEX. These are called Rave Parties. Should not be the DSP or other higher rank police officers should direct the policemen to arrest these ministers and put them behind bars, as these ministers will be mis-using peoples money which should be used for the development and not for personal enjoyments?

Making a news like this, do the police think that they have done a good job. It's a cowardly act. Catch the real culprit, arrest and put behind bars the culprit ministers and see that Karnataka State development plan is implemented, this will be bavery. what has the police done when the whole world was seen that some of the Karnataka Leaders were watcing blue film in the parliament? Are they already behind the bar?

"They were booked under IPC Section 294, which pertains to causing annoyance to others and obscene act in public places." What nonsense is this.. These people were enjoying their weekends in a quiet resort. How come it is disturbance to others. What is obscene here... I know individually everyone involved. No one takes drug in that group. How come drinking whiskey & dancing becomes illegal...

Starting from this weekend onwards there will be many wedding receptions in social clubs, all church halls, school grounds, roce parties (bachelor party) in houses which will have baila and jive dancing in both the twin districts. According to police, they will classify these as rave parties because there will be ladies dancing. Beware you have been warned!

Partying is an individual choice. Neither police nor any of us have a right to advise others what they should do and should not do as long as they are adults and no banned drugs used. Who does not drink these days? Police and the public please stop worrying about parties and let the life go on. What is half naked let the police or the news reporters clarify ????

Please allow our youngsters to enjoy their life. There is no need to raid the private parties and terrorize the young.
In the absence of Pubs, Discotheques, night clubs, which is need of the hour for our youngsters what you expect them to do? How they are supposed to enjoy their life?
You are modernizing in one side by bringing in American life style by creating jobs in Call Centres, BPO's etc giving our young men and women high salaries but they need to spend it isn't it?
Wake up before it is too late - too many restrictions will cause harm and no gain.
Even Saudi with restrictions, they go to Bahrain a few KMs away and enjoy the night life.
Countries with strict muslim rules have bars and nightclubs etc.

For goodness sake, this was a dance party!. No drugs were involved. I do not understand why the cops are after these kind of parties.
Tomorrow, they might raid my home where I have guitar jam sessions everyday with scotch and wine, along with my friends.
Please let the young people enjoy life and do not be a spoil sport.
These young people have every right to enjoy their life.

At least 30 % of Indians roam around half naked, (Poverty reasons) so whats the big deal ? Our Swamiji's are also semi clad (religious reasons) even at weddings where there are womenfolk. Private Party half naked so what ? Are we supposed to copulate in our own houses with clothes on ? well, for a change it was the "real cops" not the Vedike / Rama Sena Inc., which 'raided" this place - may be palms were not greased. Sadly all but one belonged to the majority who uphold Moral and cultural values and abhor Western Culture. Can our Home Minister come out with clear rules as to what is allowed and where ?

Congratulations to the smart cops and must say great job. In recent months there have been several incidents like this across the country. As normal citizens of this country at various age levels all of us have the right to enjoy through various types of entertainment. Rave party according to the cops necessarily means use of banned substances mostly drugs which is not true. It is come to the notice like this time many other times cops raided party's and tarnished the party itself along with the reputation of so many reputable and sincere people who attend these.

My sincere request to the Manga lore police please educate people what is not allowed so that people are aware of what means violation of entertainment according to Indian entertainment laws. Its clearly becoming evident at various occasions that its nothing but moral policing.

Allow people to choose their source of entertainment but lay the rules rather educate the public especially to students through road shows and education at schools and colleges.

Everyone is naked under the clothes, so why highlight the word half naked, and make a big fuss about it. In a country of over 1 billion population having democratic setup, and vastas to break any laws such parties cannot be stopped and should not be stopped unless narcotics are being used.
