Mangalore, Jun 15: Tulunada Rakshana Vedike Bahrain unit presented a memorandum to Mangalore airport director M R Vasudeva, urging Air India Express (AIE) to operate two flights from Bahrain to Mangalore except on Fridays, on Thursday June 14.

AIE had been operating three flights from Bahrain to Mangalore, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays in the past. Meanwhile, AIE discontinued the flights operating on Sundays and continued to operate two flights on Wednesdays and Fridays. The majority of passengers were of the Muslim community boarding at Bahrain, who had to depend on Wednesday’s flight since Friday’s flight would not give them enough time to prepare for their journey and also cause hindrance in offering prayers.
 
Bahrain unit of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike had presented a memorandum to AIE authorities in Bahrain to operate two flights from Bahrain to Mangalore except on Fridays and to accredit the status of international airport to Mangalore airport.
 
Bahrain unit of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike president Salim K C Road and chief secretary Moosa Talapady were present on the occasion.
