Dubai: Karnataka Sangha 'Aims' to have Fun with Dart Tournament

Dubai, Jun 18: Karnataka Sangha Dubai organized a day-long dart tournament for its members recently at Ramee Royal Hotel, Karama, Dubai.

The event was conducted by sports secretary Manohar Hegde with the assistance of Kannadiga dart veterans A W Chowdhary, Sangha’s past office-bearers Boniface Carlo and John Monteiro.

The tournament was declared opened by president Girish Shetty, Chowdhary and Dominic of Ramee Royal Hotel by shooting darts on the three dart boards at the same time. The aiming skills of Kannadigas, who were playing darts for the first time was appreciated by the professional players' team. The motto was to socialize and darts was just an excuse. Karnataka Sangha patron and past president C R Shetty cheered the players during the tournament.
 
There were five categories and as many as 18 participants in a group. Children's, men's singles, ladies singles, mixed doubles and professional teams played to get to the top position. A fun-filled family day out with a lavish buffet lunch for the partipants was arranged by the hotel. The resident DJ played fast numbers and the members stepped on to the dance floor.
 
The men's and women's singles were the highlights of the tournament as the contestants displayed true sportsmen spirit. The final game was concluded at 7 pm and the prize distribution ceremony was held at the same venue. Vice-president K R Tantry conducted the event. A W Chowdhary, Boniface Carlo and John Monteiro were felicitated with mementoes. He also thanked the sponsors Krishna Bangera of Macro Trend, Girish Shetty, Satish Venkataramana, Manohar Hegde, K R Tantry. General secretary Daya Kirodian, treasurer Jayant Shetty, and executive committee members Marina Menezes, Satish Venkataramana, Lawrence Nazerath, Satish Shetty contributed to the success of the event.

Karnataka Sangha Dubai will be hosting a dance competition for all the Kannadigas in the UAE on September 21 and mega event of the year Karnataka Rajyotsava programme on November 9. All Kannadigas are requested to participate in both the events.
