Mangalore, Jul 13: Mangalore city traffic police have made their way into social media to reach out to the public at large and tackle traffic-related issues. Throught this, they will also create awareness on road safety.

Mangalore City Traffic Police’ a Facebook page, was set up recently to create understanding about traffic-related problems and address such issues.

This page is being launched on an experimental basis. "The official Facebook page gives top priority to genuine traffic related issues and  good suggestions which will help us serve you better," said a police source.

The page will be strictly monitored to avoid any misconduct and false statements as it is being maintained  for public awareness, said the source.

The following police stations will be covered under the segment - Mangalore South police station (Pandeshwar) Mangalore North police station (Bunder), Mangalore East police station (Kadri),  Barke police station and Urva police station.

Speaking to Daijiworld, city poice commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that a team has been formed to instantly respond to queries and complaints on the page. The team has undergone training and counselling from experts, he added.

The online team will coordinate with the other police, who will do the ground work simultaneously and strive to resove the issues at the earliest. "We will ensure that there is no discrepancy in the work," he said.

"The page will be updated regularly. As of now, it covers only the police stations in the city limits, but in time, it will be extended to all police stations under the police commissionerate," he added.

The page has been launched to help the public and enable smooth functioning of traffic police and facilitate easier ways of dealing with traffic-related issues, Singh said.

The Facebook page with technical support from REDMINT (a social media branding company) will create awareness and guidance towards genuine traffic issues, traffic violations, traffic related updates, photos, videos, etc.

    I appreciate their move and ideas on improving the traffic awarness or issues through social network sites, as i am fed now a days listining to the news of change in MLA's and ministers who long for the crown only to mint money and loot poor people.

    @Rakesh shetty

    Very true. But all these wont happen until BJP is in rule, coz they are least bothered abt these issues and only concerned about their seats.

    So instead we can appreciate someone effort to make Mangalore a better place to live.

    THESE KIND OF EXPERIMENT WONT WORK IN INDIAN ROADS.

    I FEEL ROAD MUST BE WIDEN IN ALL AREA AND RECRUIT MORE TRAFFIC POLICE IN EACH AREAS.

    SPEED BREAKERS MUST BE INCLUDE IN ACCIDENTAL ZONES,OFFICE,
    SCHOOL,COLLEGE AREAS.

    IN HIGH WAY SPEED LIMIT SHOULD BE REDUCED TO 60KM/HR. THEN ONLY WE CAN AVOID ACCIDENT CASES.JAI HO.
