Doha: Konkan Toastmasters Conduct Installation Ceremony

Doha, Jul 17: The installation ceremony for the new executive committee of Konkan Toastmasters for the term July 2012-June 2013 was held recently. The ceremony was conducted by Joseph Stanley, Area 68 Governor and a seasoned Toastmaster.













 

President Filomeno Alves will head the new committee. The other members of the committee are Jonathan Sequeira (vice-president (Education)), Riana Pinto (vice-president (membership)), Christopher Almeida(vice-president (public relations)), Sanjeev Nair (secretary), Henry D’Souza (treasurer), and Mable Fernandes (sergeant–at–arms). The event was graced by District 20 lieutenant governor (marketing) Subha Anupindi.

Before handing over the mantle, previous president Jovita Pereira D’Souza gave a vote of thanks to all the members for their support in the past year. Alves delivered a motivational address and the event concluded with a grand award ceremony to thank and appreciate all members.

The ‘Outstanding Toastmaster Award’ that was determined by a point system based on attendance, participation, contribution, participation in club/area competition and presentation done within and outside the club was presented to Jonathan Sequeira (first place), Christopher Almeida (second place), and Riana Pinto (third place).

The tremendous support from Wilfred Fernandes, manager, Ghanem Gardens, was whole-heartedly appreciated by presenting a memento which was accepted on his behalf by his wife Mable Fernandes who was felicitated on the occasion.
 
Konkan Toastmasters is a seven-year-old club. The meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of every month at 7:00 pm at the Ghanem Gardens.
