M'lore: Eye Camp Conducted at Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple to Mark I-Day

Mangalore, Aug 17: Free Eye Camp was conducted at Sri Bhoothanatheshawra Temple, Badaga Yedapadavu, Mijar, here on the occasion of Independence Day on Wednesday August 15.

The free eye camp was conducted in association with KS Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA), Derlakatte, Mangalore and a team of doctors led by Dr Jayaram Shetty examined the villagers from the neighboring region. Total of 375 villagers were examined by the doctors out of whom 46 were identified for free surgery to be performed at KSHEMA. 240 villagers will be provided with free spectacles.

This is the second eye camp to be conducted at the temple.

Earlier flag hoisting was performed at the temple premises to mark Independence Day. Sri Vijaynath Shetty, chief co-ordinator of the temple, his mother Premalatha Shetty, advocate Udayakumar Shetty, sports instructor Premnath Shetty and temple co-ordinator Kanthappa Shetty were among those present on the occasion.

Game of ‘Tempangai’, a traditional sport involving clashing of coconuts, was also played to mark the occasion.
