Bangalore, Aug 22: The former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa’s 10-day tour of the drought affected districts, which began from Tumkur on Tuesday, is ''nothing but a political gimmick,” dubbed Congress opposition leader Siddaramaiah on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, the Congress leader said the former chief minister has started his ''political drama” as part of the political gimmick to fool the people and prove that he is still relevant in Karnataka politics despite the court cases, CBI inquiry and other scandals.

Siddaramaiah wondered why the ministers and ruling party MLAs were accompanying Yeddyurappa, when they immersed themselves in playing politics so far.

He demanded that the State Government should issue the Government Order for fulfilling the Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar’s promise on the floor of the State Assembly to write off Rs 25,000 loan availed by farmers from cooperative institutions.

''What is the reason for the delay in issuing the Government Order?,” he said criticizing the Government for its lethargy in tackling the problems of the drought-affected farmers.

Even after the government announced loan waiver 20 days ago, it was yet to issue the necessary order to give effect to the decision, he said.

Siddaramaiah claimed that the State might face assembly polls any time as the BJP government was likely to collapse in the wake of internal dissensions.

Siddaramaiah and KPCC President G Parameshwara have been summoned to Delhi by the party high command to discuss poll preparations.
