Mangalore, Aug 24: A 35-year-old woman identified as Anitha, resident of Bengre, Thanirbhavi, fainted near Gokarna College as she was on her way to work. A school teacher from nearby helped her into an auto rickshaw and also informed her family and employers.

She was immediately rushed to Ullal General Hospital, Kudroli, where she was treated by trainee doctor Bhagyalaxmi who was on duty. It has been reported that due to the absence of doctors she was attended to by the trainees. Anita was conscious until she was brought to the hospital.

After around ten minutes of arriving at the hospital the doors of the patient room were shut, immediately after which Anitha was declared dead due to a heart attack.

Sources say that the hospital had inadequate facilities and not even an oxygen tank was available for emergency.

Beena, administration head of Veenu Aluminium Pvt Ltd, Managudda, where Anitha was employed at, was present in the hospital arguing with the doctors.

Barke police arrived at the hospital for further investigation. Speaking to the media, she said that Anitha used to walk from her residence to her office at Mannagudda on a daily basis. Beena alleges that the trainee doctor only delivered an injection and insufficient treatment was provided.

The hospital staff and doctors were in fear and refused to file a complaint or comply with the family and staff of Anitha. The office staff filed a complaint against the hospital.

Mahindra Ullal, ortho-surgeon stated that the medical team tried its best and said that the patient was only 60 percent alive. All necessary medical examination was conducted.

It is learnt that many cases have been reported at the same hospital due to inadequate facilities and negligence or absence of doctors.

cont'd....one and united at heart and deed, when need arises.
5- You would be pleased to know that the Mumbai police have earned the sobriquet “Second to Scotland yard”, which is due to its excellent investigation track record it has. Our policemen have given their lives fighting against terrorism and still our soldiers are fighting at the borders under extreme condition. While you may have heard of few cases where police arrive post-incident, cases where police action has been effective and on time is seldom publicized.
6- Last but not the least, what is shown in our movies is situation based and the police does not take any tips from it. Movies have pure entertainment value which is evident by the numerous Bollywood followers around the world.
Although India is a fighting a battle against odds with its own people, we are proud that the country has made remarkable progress in terms of education, science, medical, engineering, business etc… and we are living in a harmony in a country with diversified culture and various religious beliefs.

    Dear Mr. Al-Senaidi,

It was very interesting to read your comments and I would like to respond to it as follows:
1- India is a Democratic nation and has a very long history where rule by the Monarchy has also been an integral part of our nation. While there are weaknesses in every system, a country of 1 Billion plus cannot be ruled under a Monarchy system which would give rise to other complications. India’s Democracy is governed by a well written constitution which gives every citizen a right to voice his opinion which might not be possible under a Monarchy.
2- Ramasena is a group found in late 1960s with an objective to protect the interest of the Hindus and Hindu culture and belief in India. Such groups exist within other religions as well but things go wrong when some negative elements within the society, having hidden agenda, cater to the interest of extremist that make matters worst. Many incidents have taken place in the past where communal violence have risen due to mishandlings of the group agenda.
3- Every citizen of India is aware of what corruption is. May I take this opportunity to bring to your notice that under the auspices of Mr. Anna Hazare, a former freedom fighter, India recently witnessed a revolutionary movement called the “Anti-Corruption Movement” where scores of Indian citizens all over the country united together for a common cause i.e., wipe out corruption. Although the battle is still on, every Indian citizen wants to see a corruption-free nation. This is not a battle within a section of the society which can be easily solved. This is a deep rooted systemic deficiency that has to be eradicated from the bottom and it will take a while before we see the light at the end of the tunnel.
4- Unity is still there within every Indian citizen. What you see in the channel or the papers is very superficial and cannot be the base for judging the unity within ourselves. Every country has its flaws but by far we Indians are proud to be one...cont'd

To all Readers: i was introduced to this website by my staff from managlore. this website seems to have so much of information which brings in alot of awareness. i would like to express what eactly has been running in my mind today:
    1. i feel Mobarchy rule is the best
    2. what you call these Rama Sen people, they are really jobless, no one looks educated.
    3. its like people are aware of the corruption but nobody wants to take a step ahead. only gossips happen.
    4. unity is remaining only along with gangsters and political groups not laymen.
    5. your cops are always late, just like your movies.

well, im still an outsider. i just am wondering why is everyone blind inspite of sight?

When you all know that such hospital dont have good medical fecilities why do you still take the sick people to that hospital. Instead take them to the Refferal hospital where they have equipped with all the Modern fecilities. Call Emergency team Or 911 ambulance services inorder to get the treatment on time & not after the patient is dead. Our Indians are still behave like ignorent & illiterate though they are highly educated when it comes to medical . Go to internet learn about the diseases, try to look up for latest invetigations ,treatment & get a annual routine medical check up.& stop blaiming the Health team & hospitals. its time to wake up my brothers & sisters.. Just dont engage in parties, fashion, crime etc.try to do something for yourself & for the nation,

YOU MEDICAL KNOW HOW TOGETHER WITH YOUR MASTERY IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IS AT A VERY LOW EBB??I CAN SAY ENGLISH 60/40 and medical
    20 /80. CLEAR NOW ?
I AM SURE YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN WHO IS A TRAINEE DOCTOR TOO ! The chances medically are in percentage basis....
    Like 50 / 50 chance in operation, chances of survival 60 / 40 .
10 -/- Chance of survival means patient is 90-/- gone.
Complete potha in tulu means 100-/- dead ?

O.K. Let us assume that the hospital lacks facilities to handle cases like cardiac arrest, internal bleeding etc. As a duty, the hospital did try to administer emergency measures to save the life despite the fact. Unfortunately, the patient died withing 10 minutes, repeat 10 minutes. If the hospital had retained the patient for longer period without revealing the line of treatment, ulterior motives could have been attributed. If cases like this are given wide publicity for mishandling causing death,I am afraid doctors will think twice before admitting and trying to save a life. However, they will be blamed for this also. Let us therefore wait for the autopsy report.

    When do people faint?
    When they have cardiac arrest.
When their veins rupture or got blocked by clots in the brain.
Their blood sugar level s suddenly.
They are dehydrated due to heat or electrolytes in their system become suddenly imbalanced.
They have ingested poison by mistake.
    Now what doctors can do?
They test for pulse, test blood pressure, see whether their pupils are dilated or respond to light.
At the most within 10 minutes they can administer drips & oxygen.
Second line of treatment can only be given to stabilise the patient's vital signs.
The first 5 to 10 minutes are vital, but before they come to doctors it is already late by 20 or 30 minutes.
Without expert & well trained doctors, with all the modern equipment & facilities can do very little without knowing patient's previous medical history within 10 minutes.
With tests & scans only they can diagnose the underlying health problem which might take hours.
Now blame her fate or "jeevan rekha" for this death.
Please wait till the forensic report before blaming hospitals or doctors.
I ask all those who blame them to name a single hospital where death of single patient never took place.

hi people..i have a suggesion..never ever take the patients to such kind of clinics and hospitals..you must have the knowledge of the hospitals where they have a full fledged emergency department with a medical team 24/7.people should be aware of these hospitals in the city..i have seen many times during some accidents the people arround will just shift the patient to a near by clinics and small hospitals where they dont even have basic fecilities to save the patients life..

By doing this the people unknowingly push the victims into death though they do it as a very noble cause.i dont know these small hospitals and clinics does have a governing body which monitors the basic fecilities and quality of the patient care.and people just pay blindly to these waste.a patient with cardiac arrest can be revived even there is a very little % chance if the hospital have that fecilities and a team..i dont even think this trainee doctor even knows how to perform CPR and intubation to provide 100% oxygen.there is no mandatory for the healthcare providers to learn CPR in INDIA.it should be mandatory and should be taken as a part of the course for medical and paramedcal students and staffs.in western countries each and evry person is aware of CPR(CARDIO PULMONARY RESUCITATION)..

When they see a victim with cardiac arrest they wont shift the victims themself but they will call the emergency number and call the ambulance by giving the clear picture of the accident site then the will start the CPR on the patient..this will help to push the oxygenated blood to the brain by giving chest compression and some oxygen to the lung by blowing air mouth to mouth, the ambulance which is a mini ICU by itself with all the equipments and qualified team.i think KMC hospital has such kind of ambulance service and even they have a helpline number which is working 24/7.so i think people should educate themself before blaming such hospitals..then no hospital can fool us.quality patient care is our right.

Just because media puts some photographs people jump to pass judgments. Even the title of the news item is misleading. The word mysterious circumstance is normally used when there is uncertainty about a crime. What is the crime here? I guess the new reported need some education on giving proper titles.May the deceased lady rest in peace.

My question is very simple. If the name plate reads as HOSPITAL and here it is "Ullal General Hospital, Kudroli". If they do not have basic ficility what Hospital requires, then how come, they have given that licnese.

If the hospital is not having AUDIT about the safety, equipment, procedures adopted etc etc . If not, how come still they run as Hospital.

Most of the so called Hospital are not fit to run as hospitals at all as they lack basic requirements. Here we lost one young lady's life.

It is important to note from the report that the patient was "d dead within around 10 (Ten) minutes of arriving at the hospital". Even in a well equipped hospital there is very little the doctors can do, if the patient, who is brought in a critical condition suddenly collapses and dies. We must admit that most of the hospitals in Mangalore are not equipped with ICCU (Intensive Cardiac Care Unit)and we can not expect it either. In the present instance, I strongly feel that we must wait for the autopsy report, before holding the doctor guilty.
