Udupi, Aug 25: UGC sponsored a one day national seminar on the topic ‘Women empowerment through inclusion’. The seminar was held at Milagres College Silver Jubilee Hall, here on Friday August 24.
Dr Muzaffar Assadi, professor, department of political science, Mysore University, inaugurated the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Muzaffar Assadi said that women empowerment is decided by the influence of markets. Women can bring about change in the society.
Dr Neri Cornelio, principal of Milagres College presided over the programme. Fr Stany B Lobo, correspondent of Milagres institutions blessed the occasion.
Dr T T Ramachandrappa of Manasa Gangothri, University of Mysore presented the paper on the role of women politics in the 20th century. Dr N K Lolakshi, Kuvempu Kannada department of studies, Mysore University presented the paper on empowerment of domestic women workers. Dr Joshna Mahesh, Mangalore University presented the paper on political empowerment and social inclusion and analysis. Fr Canute Barboza, coordinator of the seminar, spoke about social work perspectives.
Earlier professor Melwyn Rego welcomed the gathering. Professor Poornima G A, assistant professor, department of economics, Milagres College delivered the vote of thanks. Teena Machado, MSW lecturer compered the programme.
