Mangalore, Aug 27: The monthly grievance meeting of scheduled caste and schedule tribes headed by DCP Muthuraya was held at the city police commissioner’s office here on Sunday August 26.

Many people came forward with their problems such as Dalits are not provided with appropriate justice at police stations.

Out of them, one Dalit girl said that she had registered a complaint at Moodbidri police station on receiving continuous threat calls from a man. But no action were taken by the police, she wailed.

DCP assured to take this issue seriously and asked ACP Puttamadaya to soon take action against the culprit.

In Moodbidri police station, no proper response is given by police to Dalit’s complaints, Jagadish Pandeshwar, convenor of Karnatake Dalit Student’s Union alleged. Even if we approach higher officials, the result is same.

In this regard, a protest will be held by various Dalit associations in front of Moodbidri police station, he said.

Koraggapa, member of Moodbidri Town municipality complained to the DCP regarding the Moodbidri Tashildar for demolishing the house of Sanjeeva without serving prior notice. There are many illegal houses in the town but the Tashildar has demolished only one house, he said.

Even the police have refused to accept complaint against the Tashildar, he alleged. In response to this DCP said that the matter does not come to notice to the police and asked him to submit an appeal to district commissioner.

Radha P Keshav, Lingappa Nanthoor, Chandappa, representatives of various Dalit associations put forth their grievances.

ACP Subramanya, ACP TR Jagannath, Inspectors – Venkatesh Prasanna, Manjunath, Ravish, T Basheer Ahmed among others were present.
