Dortmund Share Point with Nuremberg

Berlin, Sep 2 (IANS): Defending champions Borussia Dortmund came from behind to tie 1-1 against Nuremberg on the second match day of Bundesliga football.

Home team Nuremberg opened scoring in the 31st minute as striker Tomas Pekhart jumped above Dortmund defender Mats Hummels to head home a corner by midfielder Hiroshi Kiyotake Saturday, reports Xinhua.

Dortmund remained unfazed and responded nine minutes later through midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski who exploited a rebound off the bar to score.

The draw meant Dortmund's unbeaten run reached the mark of 30 matches.

In other matches, Bremen wrapped their 34th win against Hamburg 2-0.

Three minutes before break, Hamburg defender and Dutch international Jeffrey Bruma tackled Bremen striker Eljero Elia inside the box to give the hosts a golden opportunity from the penalty spot.

But Aaron Hunt squandered the chance as Hamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler parried his weak shot.

Six minutes into second half Bremen was awarded the second spot kick as Hamburg defender Dennis Aogo fouled Nils Petersen inside the penalty area. This time Hunt converted to give Bremen the lead.

Hamburg was unable to put up resistance and allowed Bremen striker Nils Petersen to seal the victory in the 67th minute when he beat Hamburg goalie Adler.

Schalke defeated Augsburg 3-1 owing to an assist hat-trick by Schalke striker Jefferson Farfan. Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Jermaine Jones and Klaas Jan Huntelaar smoothed the way for the victory as Augsburg was only able to score the consolation goal through Torsten Oehrl.

Frankfurt defeated Hoffenheim 4-0. Hoffenheim received two dismissals within four minutes to swallow their second straight loss.

Leverkusen reaped a comfortable 2-0 win against Freiburg and Dusseldorf shared points with Monchengladbach after a goalless draw.
