Doha, Sep 11: Air India Express has announced a new winter schedule of flights to Mangalore which will come into effect from October 29, 2012.

Speaking exclusively to Daijiworld Qatar correspondent Air India Express Qatar manager Jagmit Singh said that beginning from October 29 AI Express will fly twice a week to Mangalore on Mondays and Fridays. The winter schedule will be in effect from October 29, 2012 to March 29, 2013.

Jagmit Singh

The AI Express flight will depart Doha at 1430 hours (2.30 pm) and will arrive at Mangalore at 2105 hours (9.05 pm). The departure from Mangalore International airport will be at 12 noon and arrival at Doha International airport will be at 1330 hours (1.30 pm local time).

On special request from Daijiworld to schedule the flights a little earlier from Doha in order to facilitate early landing in Mangalore, Jagmit Singh assured that he would try his best to convince the authorities keeping in mind that early landing will ease problems of a large number of passengers who need to travel to far-off places from Mangalore to reach their homes. He has already submitted a written request with AI headquarters in this regard, he said.

Daijiworld has also put forward a request to operate the flight on Sundays instead of Mondays so that people coming back from vacation can resume their duty immediately.

As of now AI Express will stick to the current schedule of one-flight-a-week on Wednesdays, till October 27, 2012.

    Dear Mangaloreans working in Saudi,

I strongly feel that AIE should start their operations from Jeddah/Riyadh/Dammam to Mangalore immediately. But who will lobby with Civil Aviation Minister...This minister might have been paid crores from SV for not starting AIE its Mangalore/Saudi operations.
Secondly you dont have a personality like Dr.BR Shetty with you

While we are thankful that direct international flights do exist to Mangalore, it is indeed our misfortune that we have no choice but AIE for our travel plans. Take for example the fact that even today it is not possible to book a flight after the 27th of October just because AIE have not yet got around to updating their website/online reservation system with their winter schedule. How can one plan for a vacation it you cannot book a ticket suitably in advance?

Before I was very enthusiastic to hear the start of AirIndiaExpress direct flight from Saudi Arabia to Mangaore. Now I am scared to hear AirIndiaExpress name and Mangalore Airport custom officers. Last week AirIndiaExpress flight landed in other than runway and tire was burst in Mangalore Airport but the authorities defended themselves. If I depart from Saudi at 10:00 PM (local time) Bombay arrival 4:30 AM (local time) by JetAirways and I will arrive in Mangalore by JetAirways early morning flight good facilities, good service and punctual in time schedule.
