Mangalore, Sep 12: The Dakshina Kannada District branch of the Karnataka Rajya Anudhanitha Prarthamika Shala Shikshakara Sangha ® Bangalore is all set to organize “Ksha-Kirana 2012” an aided school teacher’s convention and a workshop on “Education Rights” bill on Tuesday, September 18 in Town hall, Mangalore at 9.30 am.

The programme will be inaugurated by Dr Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka and will be presided over by C T Ravi; Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri will be the chief guest along with other guests of honor and the dignitaries.

“The aided schools have been treated as private schools and the students are not given the facilities that they require”, stated Raviraj Shetty, president of the association, addressing a press meet held on Wednesday, September 12 in the press club.

The aim of having organized this programme is to bring forth the problems faced by the aided schools and to fight and curb such problems. In many places, the government has given permission for Kannada medium schools, but many of them are run on the English medium curriculum, hence this sort of law infringement is severely affecting the aided schools.

As per rules, there needs to be only one lower primary school within 1 km radius and a higher primary school at a distance of 3 km, but in many places, this law has been broken and the authorities have granted permission.

Three aided schools have been shut down last year, as they have been hit by many problems, namely Kakva School in Mulki, Kolambe School in Bajpe and Hindu Higher Primary School in Nagori.

In Polali, a school had obtained permission for a Kannada medium curriculum from first standard to the fifth, but the school has committed law infringement by carrying out an English medium curriculum, hence affecting the nearby schools namely Ammunje, Thenka bellore, Badaga bellore and Kolakebail.

These sorts of incidents are mainly due to the negligence of the concerned departments and its officers, told Subraya Karanth, vice president of the association.

More than 100 private schools in the district have committed law infringements with this aspect, he told. He also condemned the procedure of running an English medium school with a permission of Kannada medium school and hence affecting other schools, mainly the aided schools.

K MK Manjanady, B Ramachandra Rao and Ambareesh were also present on this occasion.
