Nativity Fest : German and Dutch Konkani Association (GDKA) - Frankfurt

Report and pictures by Kevin Coutinho

Frankfurt, Sep 12: German and Dutch Konkani Association (GDKA) met on 8th of September to celebrate Nativity of Mother Mary (Monti Fest).

The Days Celebration started with honoring Mother Mary with fresh flowers, followed by a procession of celebrants.

The Holy Eucharist was celebrated in Konkani by Rev. Fr. Robert Rego and Bethany Sister prepared the Liturgy, which was very meaningful and worthy to honor Mother Mary on her Nativity. The Choir gave a special touch by singing Hymns exclusively in Konkani, which was headed by Fr. Ronald Lawrence. A lot of homegrown vegetables were brought for the procession of Gifts to the Altar.

After the Mass, everyone marched towards the Church hall, where our committee President Anthony D'silva welcomed everyone and thanked them for their continued support. Sr. Stephina did the welcome dance, which was applauded by all. Delicious food consisting of five types of vegetables prepared in Manglorean style and Sannas (idilis) were served, followed by Jilabis and Vorn.

All children were excited to participate in games conducted by Slyvia, which was followed by tombola, where lots of gifts were given out. The festive mood was all around the hall and children did exploit the full use of the program by running in-and-around the hall.

The program was attended by Christian families from all over Germany as well as the visitors from India.

Altogether it was great day filled with lots of joy and happiness.
