FAMAD Pernal, U.A.E.

Dubai, September 18: FAMAD Pernal, the association uniting parishioners of Pernal in the U.A.E. celebrated Monthifest at Windsor Hall, Winchester Hotel Apartments, Dubai on Friday, September 14.

The event took off at 7.30pm with welcome by president Wilfred Mathias. Children venerated the statue of Maria Bambina with flowers and all sang traditional hymns 'Sokkod Sangatam Mel'lyam' and 'Moriek Hogol'lsiyam'. Theresa Lewis recited the starting prayers. As part of their traditional celebration, Jonitha Almeida brought 'Novem' the newly blessed corn to the hall along with milk which was received by Magdalene Mathias which was shared by all.

Pokri Pernal presented a few hilarious skits and children gave some scintillating dance performances. Dony Correa took charge of the entire proceedings with grace and glamour. Dinesh Correa was the DJ. As part of their fundraiser programme, a raffle draw was held and prizes were distributed. As every year, the vegetarian meal was prepared by fellow parishioners and delicacies such as Potrade, Puli-koddel, Vorn were served on banana leaves. The event which was attended by a sizeable crowd of over 140 was unique and entertaining this year too.
