Bangalore: IRS Officer Booked for Filming Wife's Obscene Video for Dowry

Bangalore, Sep 20 (PTI): An IRS officer has been booked for allegedly making an obscene video of his wife and using it to blackmail her for dowry, police said today.

Bangalore resident Nishwant Davrajan Kullulathil, an Indian Revenue Service officer, was booked yesterday along with his mother and sister under relevant sections of Domestic Violence, Sexual Offence and Dowry Prohibition Act, Gittikhadan police said.

Nishwant's wife, an assistant income tax officer, lodged a complaint with police here yesterday that on February 6 and September 3 earlier this year, her husband allegedly sodomised her in her hostel room in Nagpur and took videos of it.

He allegedly threatened to post the obscene videos on the internet if she did not give him Rs 10 lakhs.

The victim further alleged that her mother-in-law and sister-in-law also tortured her mentally and physically for dowry.

A police team has been sent to Bangalore to apprehend Nishwant and his family for probe in the case, police added.

A animal instinct of a IRS Officer towards his wife.I doubt the officer's mental conditions, should he be checked by Psychologist and direct to the jail.A place very safe to this officer.

These are allegations from one side and jumping into conclusions on reading one sided story is unfair. Who knows what is the conflict? Remember, women can go to any extent to take revenge and so are the men at times.

@ p . Pai and others .... Unfortunately men rights group is still in budding state as far india is concerned . Right now we have save family foundation which also works for men victimized men and human rights groups which extend their support . But on other side , feminist movement is rampant in india. It vl take time for men rights group to take charge as it doesn't have any political wing or support. But you can do certain things , which r basic but effective . 1 . Forming groups as grass root level 2. Creating awareness about rights 3. Meeting political candidated at certain constituences and make them understand issues and men vote banks. 4 . Submitting public intetest affdvt in court , urging govt to make all ipc codes gender neutral.

I dont think we must come to any conclusions, since we dont know if its true or false.
However all said and done, if taking dowry, or beating wife for dowry is Indian culture, I am sorry I am ashamed of my country and its culture.
Even today, even in the educated society, I have seen people cry foul when they get a girl child.
If this is Indian culture, where you refer women to mothers, whats wrong if we get a girl child.
If this is our culture, I dont want it.Shame on us!!!!

One is a IRS officer and the other is a AITO. Both must be experts in their profession(bribe). Now they are playing on each other.
Whatever, the act of the husband is intolerable in the present society.Wife of course is somebody elses property untill marriage.once she is married she should be treated as their own. What would have been the result if Nishwant's father had treated his mother in the same manner or his sister by her husband if married or after marriage.
So the dowry system still exists in India . Now I understand why many of the girls are disappearing or falling in love with a tragic ending.

Another case of misuse of dowry harrasement code. Its getting to the neck of innocent husbands now. Looks like , no hopes with congress , may be new govt after 2014 , vl make gender neutral . And there should be new code for draconian wives who mentally torture their husbands. Videography? . Of whoom? , his own wife ?! , who others to ask , thats also kind of amusement . Peepers should not peep into , whats happening betwean four wallS . Law and police has no bussiness here . He did not upload his video anywhere on the web , so where is the criminal offence. If his wife is framing him , she should be arrested.

I think it is the craziest and last stage of dowry harassment. Shame on them. Why it's happening mostly in highly educated and well off families. Even the desire for the male child and killing of female child also existing and can be seen in modern and well educated families.
