Udupi, Jul 1: Henry D’Almeida, a resident of Udyavar and a long-time entrepreneur in networking, electrical, and security systems in Muscat, passed away. He was 71 years old. He was the brother of the Dr Gerald Almeida, the retired bishop of the Diocese of Jabalpur.

Known for his generosity and charitable nature, Henry had been running his business in Muscat for several years. Just on June 26, he had travelled to Muscat saying he would return after clearing some documentation and accounting work. However, he was found deceased on June 30, in his room. It may be noted that his son had passed away about four years ago.

A key patron of the Marian Grotto at Udyavar Church, Henry had also supported several church-related projects and offered encouragement to numerous organizational events. He had provided employment to many youths from the undivided district.

He is survived by his wife, daughter, son-in-law, brothers, sisters, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral rites will be held at Udyavar Church, with more details to be announced soon.
