Udupi: Depression Pushes Man to Suicide

Udupi, Oct 25: Santhana D'Souza (60), a resident of Shirva committed suicide at Mithabettu, Pilar village, Shirva.

He drowned himself by jumping into a nearby well on Wednesday 24 October.

The man lived a solitary life and the police sources claim that loneliness and personal depression might have cost him his life.

Benedict D'Souza, one of the residents, came to the Velankani Grotto to offer prayers. She spotted a wallet and an umbrella placed on the floor.

She suspected something happened, so she checked the nearby well, where she found a body near the grotto.

The body was later identified by Dolphy Rebello.

A case has been registered at the Shirva police station.
