Bantwal: State Minority Development Corporation Distributes Funds to Needy

Bantwal, Oct 26: Cheques were disbursed under the aegis of Karnataka state minority development corporation to beneficiaries under various categories. Funds for Arivu, Shrama Shakti micro finance scheme and housing interest subsidy scheme were disbursed.

The cheque distribution for Beltangady and Bantwal taluks was held at Brahma Shri Narayan Guru Sabhabhavana, B C Road, Bantwal.

The total beneficiaries from Christian minority community for the financial year 2012 -2013 until September were 3,088 and an amount of Rs 449.43 lac was distributed.

From the initiation of the Christian Minority Council, in 2011-2012 a total amount of    Rs 1153. 37 lac was distributed for various schemes.

The programme was inaugurated by district incharge minister C T Ravi.

In his address, he urged the recipients of funds to multiply their seeds and make them grow into a big tree.

Bantwal MLA Ramanath Rai, presided over the function and made a thought-provking speech.

N B Aboobaker, chairman, Karnataka State Minority Development Corporation, delivered the keynote address and elaborated on the various schemes and fund allotments made for the needy minorities.

Jerardin D'Souza, special invitee, Christian Minority Development Council, expressed his appreciation of the present government's funding of various schemes for Christians, ranging from education (Arivu), self-employment (Shrama Shakti), micro finance, to housing subsidy. Jerardin D'Souza also conveyed the Bishop's appreciation of the government for being the first to grant funds to church buildings.

Monappa Bhandary, MLC, guided the beneficiaries in his speech.

Padmanabha Kottari, district president, BJP was present. Usman Haji, president, district Wakf committee also spoke on the occasion.

Ronald D'Souza, chairman, APMC, Bantwal, Ritesh Shetty, vice-president, zilla panchayat, DK, and many others graced the occasion.

The funds for beneficiaries of Mangalore North, Mangalore South, and Moodbidri constituencies were disbursed at ADKA hall, Baikampady.

Krishna Palemar, former minister and MLA, Mangalore North, presided over the function. Palemar called the gathering a record of sorts for the large number of beneficiaries present.

C T Ravi, district incharge minister, inaugurated and gave his outlook on the funding of minorities.

N Yogish Bhat, deputy speaker of legislative assembly and MLA, Mangalore South spoke on the occasion.

Abhayachandra Jain, MLA, Moodabidri, expressed his happiness on seeing the large number of beneficiaries.

N B Aboobaker, chairman, read the report and gave a projection of the various activities of the Corporation.

The entire effort in organizing the grand function and in allotting and identifying the needy was mainly done by Somappa, and Sridhar Bhandary, general managers of the Corporation.
