Puttur: Student Suicide Case - Accused Proved Innocent

Puttur, Oct 29: An accused who was behind bars in connection to a suicide case of a girl was proved innocent by the fast track court on October 28.

The Puttur fast track court declared Ravichandra, resident of Kokkada innocent.

On July 21, 2010, Ujjire college student Ranika (18) had consumed poison and committed suicide.

In this regard, Ranika's parents had lodged a complaint against Ravichandra. They said that Ravichandra used to mentally torture her for marriage and thus Ranika committed suicide, they alleged.

Acting on the complaint, Uppinangady police filed a chargesheet against Ravichandra. However, he was proved innocent in the court.

Lawyer Subramanya Kumar and Rajendra Nayak fought the case on behalf of Ravichandra.
