Udupi, Oct 29: Lions Club, Shirva Manchakal organised a rural sports meet under the banner 'Kesaru Gadde Grameena Kreeda Koota' at Shirva Nyarma Hosamane Bakimar Field on Sunday October 28.
David D’Souza inaugurated the sports meet. District governor, MJF Ln Dr Madhusoodan Hegde, Suresh P Shetty, Gurme industrialist, first vice district governor MJF Ln H N Shiva Kumar, second vice district governor PMJF Ln Suresh Prabhu, parish priest Fr Stany Tauro, district ambassador MJF Ln Shridhar Shenava, Ln V Subbayya Hegde, Nyarma Hosamane, district cabinet secretary MJF Ln N M Hegde, and regional chairperson Ln K Dinakar Shetty were present on the dais.
Local leaders Prakash Shetty, Conrad Castelino, Leena Machado, MJF Ln Jayashri Krishnaraj, Ln Rocky D’Silva, and Ln Ronald Menezes inaugurated various competitions.
President Ln Melwyn Aranha welcomed the gathering. Ln Norbert Machado compered the programme. Secretary Ln Ramananda Shettigar proposed the vote of thanks.
Sports like volleyball, throwball, tug of war and individual games were held. Hundreds of people participated as well as witnessed the event.
In the evening, Lions district ambassador MJF Ln M ShridharaShenava, district PRO PMJF Ln Dinesh Bangera, sub-inspector of police K R Nayak, LCIF co-ordinator Ln Lawrence D’souza, Ln Narayana Shetty distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions.
President of the club, Ln Melwyn Aranha welcomed. Ln Norbert Machado proposed the vote of thanks and Ln Wilson D’souza compered the programme.
