Mangalore: SCC Training Held at Mother of God Church, Shakthinagar

Mangalore, Oct 30: Mother of God Church, Shakthinagar, here organized a half day long training session to all the members of ward Committee (SCC) of all wards and to all youth of the parish on Sunday October 28. 

The purpose of this gathering was to make the parishioners aware of the importance of SCC in building up a participatory Church. The gathering began at 9.30 am with the enthronement of the Bible.

The session was inaugurated in a symbolic gesture by parish priest Fr Walter D’Souza, Br Johnson, Denis Machado, vice president, and ward gurkars and the members of central committee.

Members of Central committee conducted the prayer service and invoked Divine blessings.

Br Johnson Sequeira in his introductory note urged the parishners to have a thirst for SCC and not to belittle the activities of SCC. He also encouraged the youth to play their role in SCC.

Fr Walter D’Souza, parish priest and director of SCC, Mangalore diocese delivered a talk on the theme, ‘The need and the mission of ward committee.’ He touched upon various needs of ward committee and also their task in making SCC very effective.

George D’Souza, secretary of parish pastoral council, Kulshekar who has rendered a lion share towards SCC in his ward shared his experience with the participants. He also cleared the queries and doubts raised by the audience.

Thereafter a live demonstration of SCC meeting and preparatory meeting was performed by the members of Central Committee to make the parishners to be at ease with the proceedings of SCC. Robert D’Souza, Mangalore diocesan secretary for SCC appealed the participants to have a right attitude towards SCC.

Creative games and action songs conducted by William Colaco, Br Johnson and the members of Central Committee kept the participants alive throughout the sessions. Finally parish priest distributed the prizes to the winners.

Vincent D’Souza evaluated the whole program while Arun Lobo proposed vote of thanks. Irene Carlo compered the program.
 
Nearly 80 members were benefited by this program. The program came to an end with sumptuous meal prepared by the parishioners.
