Udupi, Oct 31: CPI (M) staged a protest against the increasing exploitation on women, which was conducted in the district in front of Clock tower on Tuesday October 30.
Shankar (president) said that violence against women is increasing on a daily basis. Given the subordinate status of women, much of gender violence is considered normal and is granted social sanction.
Manifestations of violence include physical aggression, such as blows of varying intensity, attempted hanging and sexual abuse, rape, psychological violence through insults and humiliation, economic or emotional threats, and control over speech and actions.
The development of a country and a state is based on the financial status is a false thought but a well furnished social status of a country is essential. The percentage of women exploitation has been on the rise.
The democracy of the government is destroyed because of this. Equalized society is the request of CPI (M).
Balakrishna Shetty said that in 2011, the HLRB report stated that 2.28 Lac women are exposed to such exploitation; this is just a report but the actual number maybe more.
As per the women and child welfare and state police department reports says that 4,000 ladies are missing every month. Such women are are made to work in the prostitution business in different parts of the country.
Though the government is well aware of the situation no action has been taken. The reason for this, he alleged is maybe because the ministers themselves are busy watching blue films in the parliament.
40 % of the women are exploited in the rural areas because of the lack of basic facilities and women support while the rest 60 % are Dalit women.
More over 15,000 cases are registered everyday for facing serious exploitation in dowry. Cultural and social factors are interlinked with the development and propagation of violent behavior.
With the evolving social scenario that men and women undergo, men take up the stereotypical role of domination and control, whereas women take up that of submission, dependence and respect for authority.
The state government has exploited cases relating to inter-castes and minority communities; this is the best example of the ruling parties’ negligence.
Women empowerment committee and CPI (M) are working for the women rights but that is not sufficiently effective.
