Mangalore, Nov 4: "A programme to honour the teachers of as many as 100 government aided, unaided, primary and high schools in the Mangalore assembly constituency limits will be organized at the Unity Hall, Thokkottu on Tuesday November 6", informed Mamatha Gatty, president of DK district women congress at a press conference held on Saturday November 3.
U T Fareed Foundation is organizing this programme for the second consecutive year lead by MLA U T Khader. Teachers of schools in Ullal, Permannur, Munnur, Pilar, Talapady, Deralakatte, Konaje, Ira, Hoohakuva Kallu and Sajipa Mooda clusters will participate in the programme.
On the same occasion, teachers of the Mangalore assembly constituency, who retired from their service this academic year, and award winning teachers will be felicitated.
On the same day, a workshop on the theme ‘Right to Education and Teachers’ will be organized and Suresh Balila, training co-ordinator, Padi Mangalore and Kasturi, district co-ordinator, Padi Mangalore will be the resource persons.
Dr Shantharam Shetty will inaugurate the programme and MLA U T Khader will preside over the function. Haji Y Abdulla Kunhi, chancellor of Yenepoya University will felicitate the teachers.
Mamatha Gatty said that about 1000 teachers in the Mangalore assembly constituency will be honored as part of the ‘Guruvandana’ programme. "Janab Hamza U S, president of Ullal Jumma Masjid, Fr Thomas D’Souza, priest of St Sebastian Church, Sadananda Bangera, president of Ullal Mogaveera Sangha will be the chief guests", she informed.
