Udupi, Nov 6: Dr Peter Fernandes, principal of Alva's Engineering College has been conferred the ‘Shiksha Ratan Award’ and ‘Certificate of Excellency’.
The has been instituted by India International Friendship Society, New Delhi.
The award was presented by Dr Bhishma Narain Singh, former governor of Tamil Nadu and Assam at an award ceremony held in New Delhi.
Dr Fernandes is currently residing in Karkala. He was honoured with Shiksha Ratan in recognition of his contribution to education.
Sardar Joginder Singh, former CBI director, Balachandra Mungekhar, former vice-president of Planning Commission, Dr GVG Krishna Moorthy, ex election commissioner, Dr Ramprakash, former chancellor of Delhi University, Indurao Nimbalkar, president of Maharashtra Congress among others were present.
