Bangalore: Suicide Scare - Six Young Lives Lost in Single Day

Bangalore, Nov 22 (DHNS): Six persons, including three housewives and two students, were found dead in separate incidents in the City in the last 24 hours.

A 31-year-old housewife was found dead at her house in Ramaswamypalya early Wednesday morning. Mary Shashikala had allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the bathroom Tuesday night.

Shashikala’s mother Roseline told the Banaswadi police that her son-in-law Milton Royan, a businessman, and his mother Arogya Mary had been harassing her daughter for dowry. Both have been arrested under the Dowry Prohibition Act, police said.

Shashikala had married Royan four years ago. The couple have a three-year-old daughter.

MBA student

A 23-year-old business administration student allegedly hanged herself at her house at Pampa Layout in Amrutahalli on Wednesday.

Anusha, daughter of Subbaiah, an ex-serviceman, was doing her Master’s at M S Ramaiah Institute. Her mother worked as a staff nurse at a hospital in the City.

On Wednesday afternoon, when her parents were away, Anusha allegedly SMSed to one of her classmates saying she was ending her life. The classmate rushed to her house and when she did not respond to his calls, he informed neighbours who called the police.

Amrutahalli police broke open the door and found Anusha hanging dead in her room. The body was retrieved and post-mortem carried out at the Bowring Hospital.

Anusha has left behind a suicide note stating that no one is responsible for her death.

Diploma student

A computer science student was found hanging at his house in Gurumurtappa Layout, Hongasandra, Wednesday evening.

Prithviraj, 22, a diploma student at Dayanand Sagar College, Kumaraswamy Layout, ended his life while his parents were away at Kanakapura. In a suicide note, Prithviraj has stated that he alone was responsible for his death.

Madivala police are investigating.

Priest’s wife

The wife of a temple priest ended her life by hanging herself at her house in Malleswaram Tuesday night. According to police, Rekha Bhat, 30, was married to Subbarama Bhat, a priest at Maramma Temple on 8th Cross, Malleswaram. The incident came to light when Bhat returned home at night. Their four-year-old son was sleeping in the bedroom and Rekha had hanged herself in an adjacent room, he told the police.

Shailaja, 30, a homemaker, was found dead, hanging from the ceiling at her house in SBM Colony, Mathikere, Tuesday night.

The reason for her taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, Yeshwantpur police said.

Murali, 42, a welder, committed suicide at his house in Someshwara Layout, Bilekahalli.

Murali was married to Jyothi and the couple had two sons. Mico Layout police have registered a case.

Peace be on each of them. No need to get anxius over any death, its ok to quit life, when one thinks its time to go. Every one has to die some day. Most of them wait for top management to decide & some take voluntary retirement for some or other reason..

It's not just Bangalore that's having increased rates of suicide almost everywhere people opt for the 'easy way out',especially when they are burdened with problems.
This is where our education fails us! Don't we get educated in order to face our future? To overcome the problems and obstacles of life? Of what use is education if the very purpose is defeated?
It's really very disappointing to see the educated people committing suicide in such large numbers!
Pray that people have more courage to boldly face their burdens in life and not run away from them by committing suicide!
And counselling could be a very good option here!

Bangalore is becoming a city of suicide. Six suicides in one single day is too much. Reasons for suicides may differ but precious lives were lost. What a disaster to the bereaved families and friends.

There are many reasons for these kinds of incidents: Main reason is "DESIRE" and replacement of Traditional Life to Modern Commercial Life where people are looking for :
    >Desire of Money
    >Desire of Love
    >Desire for Freedom to live separate from In -Laws/Family
    >Desire of Power
    >Desire for modern life where there is no money to afford.
    >Many times listening to Poison talks by Family,Friends, Neighbours ..etc

When such desires fails that causes for DEPRESSION then goes to suicide attempt.
Solution:>Worry about today and think positive that you are better off tomorrow or in near future.Life is not bed of rosses all the times, some there is Hurricane, Some times only rain,Flood, Lightening. Sometimes there is BRIGHT SUN SHINE'

The recent trend of increase in number of suicides among youngsters is causing concern. Is it because of urbanization or the impact of TV serials needs to be probed in details. one thing is certain that we, the younger generation is completely deprived of the guidance, care of our parental and grand parent's care due to the emerging nuclear family culture. Whenever the younger generation is caught in the riddle of confusion of life, there is no elder in the family who could counsel and give solace to the troubled soul. This added to the beaming TV serials which only advocate bad culture also is responsible for this state of affair. It is high time that children should be taught the true value of life and how to preserve it. Suicide alone is not a solution to the problem. We should teach of children to stand and fight against the adversaries of life. This should also be followed by a quality education system in middle and high schools where values in life are taught and make the life of younger generation more productive and worth living.

All this is because of dirty movies, TV serials, capturing weak minds with no proper guiding in the surroundings, schools or collages where counselling must be and important subject for better living in good and bad times in the society and fear of God on judgement day where we will be punished according to our deeds.

Why students end their life? lot of stress involved. One side load of study over that harassment in the colleges. Now a days colleges are fining the students for shortage of attendance, and also for some silly reasons. Some colleges make the issue such a big that parents are being called, over that humiliating students/parents/ manhandling in the colleges takes places. They also block their hall ticket/and block some subjects putting more pressure on them.

May their soul rest in peace, Amen. Why all these suicides? Why to go to hell? There is more misery than here. Never commit suicide. Instead live sage life or become a yogi. Once you commit suicide you will go to hell 100%. There devil will use us as he likes. No mercy, no one will come to help. People study but have no knowledge after death. After death life very very wonderful and joyful if we are eligible to rise again. Hanging shows they had a very very miserable life.

We should build a ashram for all miserable people, then the family members will come to understanding and take these people back to their homes. We can put the condition, they will not illtreat them again. For students, there is alternative way in life. Why to surrender to suicide so meekly?? Look at me, I am not happy in life, still listen songs and recite and meditate the life of Jesus and have survived till now. All you burdened come to the ashram to live a peaceful life.

Suicide is a fast solution (not proper) for the selfish individual and permanent problems for several. Lack of prayers for divine help and over dependence on the worldly things, is a real matter concern.
Lake of patience, insecure and inferior feelings, misunderstanding, doubt, comparisons, wrong decision and judgment, pressure, stress, depression, forgiving God as protector, confusion and fear, seeking instant relief, no consideration of consequences and no control of critical moments is the major reason for suicides.

We have the ability to remove any negative thoughts whenever we want to. Most people just simply don't understand that. Once you realize that you have complete and total control over your thoughts and actions, and I mean REALLY realize it, life will becomes much more enjoyable

This is a very sad and serious issue, especially mothers leaving this world leaving behind small kids. We need proper support groups/help lines for such people who are in need of urgent counseling help. Unfortunately, In Karnataka we are more concerned saving Cows rather than Human lives.

Very Sad News. So many people are taking extreme step of committing suicide.
I feel due to inflation/ steep increase in cost of living, people are in tremendous pressure to perform and live up to expectations etc. Unable to handle the situation in proper way, they are getting worked up, do not know how to find solace in peaceful co- existence.
Governments genuine concern is required in dealing with such kind of situation, force will not work, it will be counter productive. Genuinely concerned NGO's will be of great help to the VICTIMS of stress, trouble & trauma.
