Mangalore: Elston Pinto's Team Wins State-level Basketball Championship

Mangalore, Nov 28: Elston Pinto and team have won the State level Basketball championship held at Ugarkhurd, Athani Taluk, Chikkodi district, Belgaum.

The tournament was held between October 18 to October 21 where he represented the Mysore Division basketball team which was declared winner in the state championship

Elston has been also selected for the Karnataka state team to participate in the school game nationals under 14 which will be held in Maharashtra during the first week of December.

Harish, Arun Baptist, Br Santosh, Praveen and Aditya are part of the team that help to coach Elston in his game. He is a member of the Mangalore Basketball Club.

Elston is the son of Everest and Mala Pinto and he is studying in the eighth std at St Aloysius College, Kodialbail. His interest in sports arises from his father as he was a volley ball player.

Everest Pinto used to coach for some of the schools and college wherin his students have represented the Mangalore university as well as the state.

He has played for the Karnataka state team for the 39th National Basketball Championship in the sub junior category. He has also secured teh first place in karate in the Mangalore Taluk level.
