Udupi: Kaup Beach Festival on Dec 29, 30

Udupi, Dec 3: “The 2012 Kaup beach festival will be held near the Kaup light house on December 29 and 30”, informed Suresh Shetty, member of the beach festival committee.

He spoke at a press meet held on Saturday December 1.

The two-day beach festival includes food fest, kite flying, sand art, sports, beach volleyball, tug of war, which will be special attraction of the festival.

On December 30, during the valedictory ceremony, various achievers and social workers will be honoured.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Lalaji R Mendon, honorary president of beach festival committee said that Kaup beach has been attracting tourists since British rule. “In order to maintain unity among people and to attract tourists this beach festival is organized”, he said.

“Around 30,000 people are expected to witness this festival”, he added.

The two-day beach festival is organized by Kaup Beach Friends in collaboration with Karnataka Tourism Department.

Shekar Salian, vice president of beach festival committee, Mohan Bangera, Prabhakar Poojary, Yogesh Rai, president of Kaup gram panchayat, Mohan D Puthran, president of Beach Friends, Chandrashekar, convener among others were present.
