Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (VM)

Udupi, Dec 11: Six boats belonging to Karnataka were held by the Goan Coast Guards on their return after fishing activity on Monday December 10.

The six boats were New Ocean King from Malpe port, Shivachya from Malpe port and four boats belonging to Mangalore port.

The fishermen claimed that they carried out fishing in a legal way, that is without crossing 12 nautical miles. "Local fishermen from Goa informed the coast guards and thus they held our boats," they said.

"They have arrested us without any reason and looted our catch and cell phones," they said.

They demanded officials concerned to take strict action in the case.
