Udupi: Glowing Star School Celebrates Decennial Year

Udupi, Dec 13: The decennial celebrations of Glowing star integrated school, Ambalpady was held on Wednesday, December 12.

In June 2002 the school flourished with fine academics from KG to the 10 standard. Glowing Star school includes a co-education comprising of more than 500 students.

The school includes an established business lab, library and it follows the ICSE syllabus.

Modern education and standard is followed in this instituition. Along with academics like CET coaching classes for the PUC students, extracurricular activities sych as karate, yoga, singing and dancing are also given priority.

Following this the 10 standard performed with hundred percent results.

A teacher’s conference ‘Acharya- 21’was held wherein the inaugural session was held at the Glowing star auditorium on Tuesday December 11. The programme was inaugurated by Fr Valerian Mendonca, Parish Priest, St Peter’s Church Barkur).

“Teachers must always be a role model for the students”, said Ram Narayana (Vice Chancellor, Manipal University) .
“Like education, personality development is also the responsibility of a teacher. Introducing students to the developmental technology, use of the resources and preparing them for the future also comes under a teacher’s responsibility.

The decennial celebrations were inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by Dr Oscar Fernandes (MP, AICC General Secretary) and his wife Blossom Fernandes on Wednesday, December 12.

The function was presided over by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, (Bishop Udupi Diocese); chief guests were Nagendra Madyastha (DDPI) and Yogesh Shetty( Ambalpady Panchayath Member)

Principal Codrez Thomas fondly remembered the contribution of Roque Fernandes (Oscar's father), according to him he was one of the best teachers he and he was a guiding light for the school.

Affiliated to ICSE in the year 2007,  this year will be the fifth batch for public examinations (10 std).

Oscar said “Leaving behind a good job at a nationalized bank to look after a school is not an easy task while Codrez was successful in that. This year many schools in the district have acquired a 100% result in 10th Standard. But Glowing star follows a central syllabus and the 100% result in a central syllabus is an honor. The growth of the school during these 10 years is immense; in future we can find it as a top school in the state”.

He added saying that, “it is a pride to the district that we are 100% literate, we should know that the rights to education for the kids and for make use of the Mahathma Gandhi Rural Development plan”.

“Indians are the most intelligent people; as well as the most successful world wide”, he proudly stated.
