Udupi, Dec 14: Udupi Taluk panchayat general body meeting was postponed because of the lack of quorum on Friday, December 14.

The new taluk panchayat president Gowri Poojari presided over the meeting for the first time during which 18 Congress members out of 19 and 6 Haladi supporters were present, the rest of the members boycotted the 13 General body meeting.

The total members were supposed to be 41. Some of the members said that the Halady Srinivas Shetty's group versus BJP issue was being reflected in the meeting.

It was also discussed that although a Zilla Panchayat meet was scheduled for a meet in the evening, a Taluk panchayat meet was organized on the same day.

Umesh Nayak (Congress member) told the media, "Being in opposition, support was shown in positive way to the BJP, and so also to Hebbar, the previous TP president. We expect the same from him too; Gowri Poojari is presiding the meeting for the first time so Hebbar should show support because she has been elected by the BJP itself.

"Any personal problem should not be brought to the meeting. It will portray a wrong picture to the public", he added.
